The title of this story speaks for itself, yet we do invite you to see why alpine skiing Šárka Strachová cannot imagine a life without a pet. She grew up surrounded by pets, so she’s got really good reasons why having a pet is one of the best thing you can do.
IMAGINING LIFE WITHOUT A PET ... NO WAY!!!
We’ve asked this question to all the pet lovers we’ve approached for this project and the conclusion of our unofficial survey is that once you have welcomed a pet in your life, it is difficult to go back. Šárka Strachová’s story is very relevant in this case. She has had all sort of pets since she can remember and her dedication in finding Baloo stands for the commitment she took towards having a furry family member that would be a great company for the little human who will join them in a couple of months, Šárka and Antonín’s first child.
THE BEST THING ABOUT HAVING A PET?
Baloo has hunting in his genes, he loves the outdoors, running and playing around. Luckily, the part of the country where Šárka and Antonín live has plenty of areas where Baloo can do all that. The woods nearby are his favorite exploration area, sniffing around for rabbits or deer, running as much as wants without the fear of ending up in front of a car. This is one of the reasons why Šárka loves him, he takes her out for long walks in the fresh forest air and keeps her “training”, even though as a future mother, that is now less than what she was used to as an alpine skier. But he is so much more than that…
CHOOSING A RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK
Šárka Strachová has had pets around most of her life. Before getting Baloo, her and her husband Antonín Strach had two cats, also named after characters from “The Jungle Book” by Rudyard Kipling. Antonín is a big fan of the book, so they kept the name tradition for all the pets in the family. Before Šárka announced her retirement and started focusing on expanding her family, the idea of getting a dog seemed very appealing, so they started to research which breeds would be more suitable for the future. So this is how Baloo entered their lives.
